    L&C Open Studio is a community art studio meeting weekly where individuals are invited to come to create art and find community.

    Thursdays, 3-6pm (Pacific)
    Open studio sessions are FREE and open to the public (Participants must be at least 18 years old)

    Registration required for entry. 
    No art making experience necessary!



    Participants may begin a new piece using a gentle prompt offered at the beginning of each session or work on their own new or ongoing pieces. Expect a short introduction, choose to work in silence or engage in conversation with others who choose to, and participate in a short recap on the making process at the end of the session. 


    The in-person open studios are held at the Lewis & Clark Community Counseling Center, located on 4445 SW Barbur Blvd.

    There is an option to attend an Open Studio session online, via Zoom, on the following dates:

    Open Studio for Student Self-Care


    What: Student-only monthly open studio sessions for students enrolled in the any of the L&C Counseling programs. A place to create art and be in community. NO art experience necessary and materials are provided.

    Where: Lewis & Clark Community Counseling Center, 4445 SW Barbur Blvd. 

    When: Thursdays from 3:00-6:00pm throughout the school year:

    Public Practice Art Therapy

    What is an open studio/art hive?

    • accessible community based art-as-therapy studio
    • decolonized approach to healing
    • inclusive creative space to promote autonomy through self-directed expression
    • a trauma-informed, socially-just, equitable space for engaging in art making for wellness
    • a place to witness each other’s art and art-making process 
    • a place to build community and help promote personal and collective growth through artmaking, and sharing in discussion

    Who can participate? 

    • Anyone can participate in open studio.You do not need experience with art making in order to engage in the open studio/art hive.
    • All participants must complete the pre-registration form through the Art Therapy website prior to attending the group
    • Participants must be at least 18 years old
