    Join Us in Addressing Gun Violence Through Art and Community Activism

    What We’re Doing:

    Vision Quilt, in partnership with Art for Social Change (ASC), invites you to a powerful interactive workshop series: Addressing Gun Violence: Creating Visionaries, Storytellers, and Community Activists (AGV). This program empowers participants to explore solutions to gun violence through art, education, and visionary thinking, culminating in the creation of unique Vision Quilt art panels.


     

    Where and When:

    Part 1 and 2 workshops will be held at the South Chapel on the Graduate Campus and include:

    • Part 1: Dialogue and Visioning 3-6pm
      • January 23 or
      • February 6
    • (Optional Studio Sessions): Creative Time in the Art Therapy Studio located at 4445 SW Barbur Blvd 
      • Thursdays (3-6pm) January 30, February 13rd, 20th, 27th, March 6 
      • Saturdays (12-3pm) January 25th, February 8, 22  
    • Part 2: Reflection and Presentation 3-6pm - A link to register for Part 2 will be sent upon registration for Part 1
      • March 13 or
      • March 20

    Why Participate:

    By engaging in these workshops, you’ll:

    • Analyze the systemic causes of gun violence.
    • Explore visionary thinking to imagine a safer, more just society.
    • Create a Vision Quilt panel that reflects your unique hopes and dreams.
    • Contribute to the national Vision Quilt Project and potentially have your panel showcased in a community exhibition at the LC Community Counseling Center Art Therapy Gallery (May–November 2025).

    What to Expect:

    • Part 1: Dialogue and hands-on creation of a Vision Board, guided by Cathy DeForest and ASC team members.
    • Optional Studio Time: Dedicated sessions to work on your Vision Quilt panel with support from Art Therapy faculty and students.
    • Part 2: Reflection and sharing, documenting your artist statement, and photographing panels for inclusion on the Vision Quilt website.

    How to Join:

    Pre-registration is required for all sessions (Part 1, studio time, and Part 2) to secure your spot.Individuals under 18 years of age will need a parent or guardian to complete the registration forms.
